This project is funded by USC Canada-Bangladesh & Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) for the period of May/2010 to April/2015 in Salandar union of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila to promote sustainable community livelihoods through agro-biodiversity programming with adolescent. The project implemented through 638 young farmers providing training program, established kitchen gardening, demonstration of nutrition, develop youth farmers’ forum, seed conservation, arrange farmers field day and seed fair, workshop with market actors, arranging exchange visit etc.
Detailed Narrative Description of Project:
The program aims to tackle agrobiodiversity related problems in a comprehensive way emphasizing the young farmers as key participating group and following a multi-intervention approaches involving a multitude of different actors. One of the key component of the program each to support for improving income opportunities of the participating young farmers. The program provides agriculture biodiversity based income generation skill development training to the farmers and provide support to develop their capacities so that they can make link with market actor and with resource organization. The program supports for marketing of the organic products ( Such as vegetables, Organic Fertilizer, Organic Pesticides, Local Seeds etc). By organizing ECO fair participating by various stakeholders including market actors and supporting farmers to access local markets.
Expected Result:
Increased in improving sustainable income opportunities of the young farmers.
